It is a small island just across the waters of Singapore! When you badly need a quick getaway that can mend your soul and body, sail now to this island!

1. Barelang Bridge


Barelang Bridge is an iconic bridge in Batam Island built in 1992. It connects several islands and offers a breathtaking view!

2. Tua Pek Kong Temple


This temple is open to the public with no entrance ticket required. It is a solemn temple with Chinese architectural style. There are several Chinese and Indonesian cuisines you may try in the temple’s square too!

3. Vietnam Village


Vietnamese village of Batam Island is in Pulau Galang which used to be a gathering place for Vietnamese people back then. There were nearly 250,000 Vietnamese who lived here between 1975 to 1995. However, after the completion of the Barelang Bridge, this village was discovered by the Indonesian government and sent the Vietnamese back home. Today, there are a lot of monkeys you can see in here and even feed but be careful!

4. Batam Grand Mosque


Batam Grand Mosque is a unique mosque with a rectangular pyramid dome. It has a small museum and a small restaurant nearby!

5. Maha Vihara Duta Maitreya Temple


This solemn temple is dubbed to be the biggest Buddhist temple in Indonesia covering approximately 4.5 hectares. There are souvenir shop and vegetarian restaurant nearby which you can also visit afterward.
