Taiwan Tourism Comes to Johor! 🇹🇼🇲🇾 Malaysians Who’ve Visited Taiwan Could Score Up to NT$8,000 in Travel Rewards?!

Taiwan is taking its tourism push beyond KL… And this time, Johor Bahru is in the spotlight! ✈️
Following its appearance at the MATTA Fair in Kuala Lumpur from 4–6 September, a Taiwan tourism delegation led by the Taiwan Tourism Administration headed south to Johor Bahru for the Taiwan Tourism Promotion Event in Johor at Sheraton Johor Bahru Hotel on 8 September.

The delegation brought together 44 organisations and 76 tourism representatives, including local governments, tourism associations and industry players, with one goal in mind: to show Malaysians that there’s way more to Taiwan than the usual itinerary — while building stronger tourism ties between Taiwan and Johor.

Why Johor? 👀
Johor is becoming an increasingly important market for Taiwan tourism.
With Johor Bahru sitting right next to Singapore, the state has a strategic position as a regional travel hub, along with strong potential for outbound travel.
That’s why the Taiwan delegation didn’t stop after MATTA Fair. Instead, they continued south with a “KL + Johor” two-city tourism push.
The event at Sheraton Johor Bahru brought together nearly 100 representatives from Johor’s tourism associations, travel agencies and media, creating opportunities for face-to-face B2B discussions, new travel products and future collaborations between both sides.

Taiwan Is More Than Just Taipei & Night Markets 🇹🇼
One of the biggest messages from this visit? There are a hundred ways to experience Taiwan!
Think vibrant cities, hidden food gems, mountains and coastlines, central and southern Taiwan, the scenic eastern regions of Hualien and Taitung — plus completely different experiences depending on the season.
Basically, Taiwan isn’t a destination you only visit once. And yes, there’s definitely more to discover than Taipei + night markets 🤣
That’s exactly the idea behind “Taiwan 100 Ways” — one destination, countless ways to experience it.

Been to Taiwan Before? You Could Get Up to NT$8,000!

Here’s where things get even more interesting for Malaysians who already love Taiwan 👀
From 1 September, the Taiwan Tourism Administration rolled out its new tourism incentive initiative, with one of the highlights aimed specifically at repeat visitors.
According to the announced programme, travellers who have visited Taiwan since 1 January 2023 may be eligible for:
💰 A chance to receive NT$5,000 in stored-value spending credit for returning visitors
👨👩👧 Bring family or friends along and accompanying travellers may receive an additional NT$3,000 incentive
✨ That’s up to NT$8,000 in total benefits
For Malaysian families, couples or friend groups who already have a soft spot for Taiwan, that sounds like a pretty good excuse for another trip! ✈️🤣
The initiative also includes incentives related to business-event travel and corporate incentive groups staying in central and southern Taiwan, Hualien and Taitung.
Malaysia Airlines Is Joining In Too! ✈️
Another big development from this Taiwan–Malaysia tourism push: Malaysia Airlines is now part of the picture.
The Taiwan Tourism Administration’s Kuala Lumpur Office signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Malaysia Airlines, marking a major new collaboration between the two sides.
Future cooperation is expected to cover areas including:
✈️ Flight and destination promotions
🧳 Familiarisation trips (FAM Trips)
📦 Taiwan travel packages and product development
📣 Joint marketing initiatives
For Johor travellers, this could eventually mean more ways and more travel options to discover Taiwan.

Taiwan Is Becoming More Muslim-Friendly Too 🕌
Another area Taiwan is putting greater focus on is Muslim-friendly travel, an especially important consideration for the Malaysian market.
For the first time, Malaysian Muslim tourism operators were invited to participate at the Taiwan Pavilion during MATTA Fair, giving more travellers a closer look at Taiwan’s growing range of Muslim-friendly experiences.
According to the published results of the 2026 Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI), Taiwan ranked 3rd globally among non-OIC destinations.
Going forward, Taiwan plans to continue expanding and promoting Muslim-friendly dining, facilities and travel experiences, giving more Malaysian travellers the confidence and flexibility to explore the destination.

So… Is Taiwan Going Back on Your Travel List? 👀🇹🇼
This visit wasn’t just about bringing Taiwan tourism information to Johor. It was also about showing Johoreans that Taiwan is a destination worth rediscovering — again and again.
Whether you’ve never been before, or you’ve already done Taipei and Taichung more than once, new tourism collaborations, travel incentives and more diverse itineraries could make your next Taiwan trip look completely different.

So if your next trip starts from Johor… where in Taiwan would you go first? 👀✈️🇹🇼
